We are delighted to announce the launch of a new platform which complements the BSR Digital Collections website: the British School at Rome Fine Arts Archive.

The site was created as part of a collaboration between the British School at Rome and the University of Manchester, in partnership with Collaboration Labs and the Economic and Social Research Council; and was written, designed and built by researchers from the Collaboration Labs Knowledge Exchange Programme: Dr Peter Buckles (University of Liverpool), Dr Nia Davies (University of Salford) and Ksenia Litvinenko (University of Manchester). The project was nominated as a finalist for the Collaboration Labs Project Excellence Award 2021.

This ever-expanding project examines the lives and relationships of the Rome Scholars, artists who studied at the British School at Rome in the 1910s and 20s, through biographies of their lives and illustrated by material from the BSR Archives. The structure of the site reflects the networks of people and relationships that made up the BSR community, contextualised by the objects they created and places they visited.
