Rome's Mediterranean Portus Project (RoMP)

Thursday 26–Friday 27 January

Workshop on recent archaeological fieldwork undertaken around the Mediterranean as part of the wider Portuslimen: Rome’s Mediterranean Ports Project.

The two-day conference presents a series of papers of the results of the second year of the ERC funded PortusLimen project. The research is addressing specific questions relating to the capacities of and inter-connections between a range of 30 selected ports in ways that will allow us to better understand their role in promoting the cohesion and integrity of the Roman Mediterranean during the imperial era. Papers include ongoing research in Italy, Turkey, Tunisia and Spain.
