Kenneth Clark: looking for civilisation

The exhibition ‘Kenneth Clark: Looking for Civilisation’, (Tate Britain May-August 2014) tells the story of Kenneth Clark’s (1903-1983) life and work as a scholar, collector, patron, museum director, writer and broadcaster. This lecture, by one of the curators of the exhibition, will introduce Clark through the objects included in the exhibition, examine some of the reasons for his reputation, and unravel his disputed legacy.
