Ashby e l’Abruzzo exhibition has now moved to Sulmona
On 31 May, BSR hosted the official launch of the event, Ashby e l’Abruzzo (see News and Events, Monday 6th June). After L’Aquila and Pescara, the exhibition opened in Sulmona on 12 August 2011 at the Polo Museale dell’Annunziata, where it will be displayed until 18 September 2011. The museum, only recently-restored and opened, is an exceptional venue.
BSR Librarian Valerie Scott officiated at the opening and was accompanied by Assistant Director, Sue Russell. A large audience attended the presentation before adjourning to the exhibition, where the photographs were displayed amongst the museum’s collection, enhancing a number of finds from local archaeological sites.
The exhibition, a collaboration between the City of Sulmona, the Soprintendenza per I Beni Archeologici dell’Abruzzo and The British School at Rome was generously supported by the Sulmona branches of Archeoclub d’Italia, Lions Club and Rotary Club.
