Fascist violence continued after the fall of fascism, throughout the post-war period. This session will look at post-war ‘black’ violence, which reached a peak in the 1960s and 1970s with new ‘squadristi’ actions across Italy ranging from individual beatings and murders, attacks on left offices and centres and the bombings of the strategy of tension, as well as the growth of armed fascist gangs. This session will discuss these various phases of ‘black’ violence and the continuities and breaks with earlier forms of fascist violence.
