The G. E. Rickman Memorial Fund

Professor Geoffrey E. Rickman began his distinguished career whilst living at The British School at Rome as a Fellow in 1957. He remained devoted to the School, returning frequently as a scholar, and was elected Chairman of the BSR Council from 1997 to 2002, during which time he played an invaluable role in securing the vision of the School’s future. He is remembered with great affection by generations of BSR award-holders as a keen promoter of young scholars and as a deeply modest, hugely witty and unfailingly courteous companion.

This fund was established in 2010 to honour this extraordinary man. The G. E. Rickman Memorial Fund supports scholars and lectures in Professor Rickman’s own field of the archaeology and history of the Roman Mediterranean.

If you are interested in making a contribution to the Rickman Fund, please use the Membership form and be sure to designate your gift to the Rickman Fund.
