Legacy stories

Some of the most significant gifts to the British School at Rome in the last 50 years have been legacies. Over the past year, we have received pledges totalling over £1.5 million.

The 1916 Club celebrates the commitment of all those generous individuals who have indicated that they will leave a gift to the BSR in their Wills, thereby ensuring the BSR continues to flourish well into our second century.

As part of our legacy campaign, we have met with and heard from many former award-holders and others whose lives were transformed through a connection with the BSR. Below are just a few of those many inspirational stories.
