Rome Awardee Hervin Fernández-Aceves awarded AHRC post-doctoral fellowship

The AHRC has awarded a £1 million grant to lead new documentary and archaeological research into Power, society, and (dis)connectivity in medieval Sardinia. Current Rome Awardee Hervin Fernández-Aceves, a member of the project team, will be one of two post-doctoral researchers appointed under this scheme. He will be continuing his research into Sardinia’s giudicale aristocracy and its rare corpus of charter materials, the carte volgari and the condaghes.

The four-year project, directed by Alex Metcalfe (Lancaster University) in collaboration with Thomas Birch (Aarhus University, Denmark) and Giovanni Serreli (Institute of European Mediterranean History, National Research Council of Italy), will co-ordinate investigations across a network of ten research institutions. Among the project aims is the establishment of a major new exhibition on Sardinia and its Mediterranean contexts at the National Museum in Cagliari.
