On May 24th the Paul Mellon Centre for Studies in British Art at Bedford Square, courtesy of its Director of Studies, Brian Allen, hosted the launch of the British School’s ‘Roma Britannica’: Art Patronage and Cultural Exchange in Eighteenth-century Rome, edited by David R. Marshall (BSR Honorary Fellow), Susan Russell (BSR Assistant Director) and Karin Wolfe (BSR Research Fellow). The BSR’s thanks go to the Paul Mellon Centre and its staff in hosting the presentation of this book of essays published from a conference held at the BSR in Rome in 2006 which promises to be a major contribution to eighteenth-century art-historical studies.
