Governance
HM The Queen is Patron of the British School at Rome.
HRH Princess Alexandra, the Hon. Lady Ogilvy, KG, GCVO, is President of the BSR.
The BSR’s governing body (trustees) is the President and the Council.
The Director, Professor Christopher Smith, acts as the School’s Chief Executive.
Under the terms of the Royal Charter, Council members are appointed by the Council. At least seven members must be selected from the fields of specialisation and work enshrined in the School’s objectives.
Council is advised by two faculties and one subcommittee: the Faculty of Archaeology, History and Letters, the Faculty of the Fine Arts and the Finance and Personnel Subcommittee.
The Chief Executive and Secretary of the British Academy, Dr Robin Jackson, is invited to observe Council meetings.
